Mild hearing loss: When it’s impossible to hear soft sounds and you have difficulties following and hearing speech in noisy environments.
Moderate hearing loss: you can’t hear soft sounds and moderately loud sounds. Understanding speech, particularly with background music or banging is difficult.
Severe hearing loss: When you are able to hear some audible sounds, but communication without a hearing instrument is very difficult.
Profound loss of hearing: you are only able to hear extremely loud sounds and communication without a hearing instrument is impossible.
