Description
Real-ear-measurement is a test introducing hearing health care services with new technology and procedures.
This test can be performed on all patients for whose hearing thresholds are known.
It requires quiet and calm for a few minutes, while the test is done. A probe attached to a microphone is inserted into the ear canal and the sound transmitted from a speaker. The probe microphone then records the ear canal resonance. A hearing aid is then put on the ear and the test is repeated. The different between the natural ear canal resonance and that obtained with the use of a hearing aid are compared. This enables the doctor to record the gain or benefit of using a particular hearing aid.
